Regret Hurts More Than Rejection

Hey there. There’s a fear that holds a lot of people back, and it’s one I’ve battled with more times than I can count. The fear of failure. The fear of rejection. The fear of things not going the way you hope they will. If you’ve ever felt stuck or hesitant about starting something new, this fear is probably what’s in your way.

Here’s the thing though. The fear is never going to disappear. You might wait around thinking you’ll take action once you feel more confident, or once the fear fades, but it doesn’t work that way. What actually happens is the more you take action, the more you learn to respond differently to the fear. Not because it’s gone, but because you’re becoming more equipped to move through it.

I’ve done plenty of things that didn’t go the way I thought they would. I’ve had plans that took way longer than expected, and I’ve had some results show up almost instantly. None of it was predictable. But everything shifted once I started putting myself out there. Even the tough stuff helped me grow. And I wouldn’t trade that for a version of my life where I let fear make my choices.

If there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing, some part of you that’s saying I wish I was the kind of person who could… please hear this. You can. You can do the thing. You can become that version of yourself. But it starts by believing in your ability to take the first step. Not all the steps. Just the next one.

And yes, you’ll probably face the unknown. You might experience failure. You might get rejected. But you know what hurts more than any of that? Regret. Regret will eat at you while fear convinces you to rationalize your way out of trying.

So when you’re ready, even if you’re scared, just start. If you’ve fallen away from something you loved, go back to it. If you’ve never started, begin now. Fear is part of the process, but regret doesn’t have to be.
