How to End the Year with Awareness and Gratitude

Hey there. As the year winds down, I want you to take a breath and truly relax. We’ve got about a week left, and this is the perfect time to step back and reflect—not in a judgmental way, but as an observer. Look at where you are right now, how you got here, and all the experiences that shaped your year.

Take a moment to appreciate it. Yes, all of it. The wins, the struggles, the lessons, and even the moments you’d rather forget. Each one played a role in bringing you to where you are today. And the truth is, when you start observing your life like this—with awareness and appreciation—you realize you have the power to go anywhere from here.

We’re constantly bombarded with messages about starting now, not waiting for the new year, and making resolutions. And while I understand the intention behind that, I also believe there’s tremendous value in pausing first. Take stock of where you are. Reflect on how you got here. Ask yourself if you really want to make the changes you’re considering.

Jumping into something without that reflection often leads to the same cycle of starting and stopping. By taking a step back, you give yourself the clarity and direction needed to move forward in a way that sticks.

But there’s an even bigger reason to slow down right now—being present. Life moves fast. You’ve likely had moments where you looked back and thought, “Wow, that phase of my life flew by.” Often, we don’t enjoy those moments because we’re too busy focusing on the past or worrying about the future.

This week, I challenge you to break that cycle. Be here now. Appreciate who you are, what you’re doing, and where you are. Sure, keep an eye on the future and learn from the past, but let the majority of your focus stay in the present. The more you do this, the more you’ll find time slows down, and you’ll start to feel truly connected to your life.
