The Key to Moving Forward

Hey there. Slip-ups are inevitable. Whether you’re chasing big goals or just navigating the everyday chaos of life, things don’t always go as planned. Maybe you made a choice that didn’t pan out, or maybe you outright made a mistake. We’ve all been there. The key to growth, fulfillment, and contentment isn’t about avoiding missteps altogether—it’s about what you do after they happen.

When I look back at my own experiences, I’ve learned that it’s okay to feel whatever emotions come up. Let yourself sit with them—get mad, feel sad, reflect—but don’t run from them. Running only makes those feelings pile up, and before you know it, they become overwhelming. Let those emotions wash over you. Then, when the storm passes, take a step back and ask yourself: Is there something I can learn from this?

Not every moment in life is a grand lesson, but many are. And while I don’t believe everything “happens for a reason,” I do believe in the power of choice. The decisions you make steer the course of your life. That realization alone is empowering—you are actively in control of your direction.

Even as you reflect on the past, spend most of your time in the present. Right now is where life is happening. Your past decisions brought you to this moment, and it’s up to you to decide where you want to go next.

Sure, there are things in life we can’t control, but there’s plenty that we can. It’s our responsibility to focus on those areas and take action. The more you remind yourself of this, the easier it becomes to move forward when life throws you a curveball.
