Lessons From Seven Years of Podcasting
Hey there. January 4, 2025, marked a significant milestone for my podcast—it turned seven years old! It feels surreal to think back to 2018 when I first decided to start recording and sharing my thoughts. This journey has been anything but linear, filled with challenges, lessons, and growth, but one thing has remained constant: the commitment to showing up.
The Beginning: Hitting Record and Overcoming Doubts
I remember starting with an idea, but like many first-time podcasters, I overthought everything. I recorded my first episode on the Anchor app, which only allowed three-minute segments at the time. This simple limitation was a game-changer—it pushed me to focus on small, actionable steps rather than perfection.
Initially, I set a goal to record and publish daily for 30 days. I managed about 26-27 days in that stretch, and while I didn’t fully complete the challenge, the habit had already taken root. That’s when I learned an important lesson: It’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence.
Evolution of the Podcast
The format of this podcast has evolved significantly over the years. What started as short, unedited solo episodes expanded into interviews and even multiple niche-focused shows. I’ve experimented with frequency, going from daily to five times a week and occasionally skipping days when life got in the way.
But the core message—helping people build a sustainable, inside-out approach to fitness and self-love—has stayed consistent.
Authenticity Over Perfection
One thing I’ve always embraced is authenticity. Early on, I decided not to obsess over editing. Even today, my content isn’t overly polished, and I love that. There’s an underdog quality to it that resonates with me. My focus is on sharing a message, not on creating content designed to play to algorithms or trends.
That said, I’ve dabbled in light editing recently and might explore more as the podcast grows. But for now, I’m sticking with what works: creating content that’s genuine, relatable, and actionable.
Lessons Learned
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s the importance of starting. Whatever your goal—whether it’s podcasting, fitness, or anything else—don’t wait for the perfect moment. Just start. Your initial plan will likely change, and that’s okay. Growth comes from trying, adjusting, and continuing to show up.
Another key takeaway is that consistency matters more than perfection. Some episodes won’t be your best work, and some ideas might not pan out. But every attempt adds depth to your experience and brings you closer to your goals.
Looking Ahead
As I step into the eighth year of this podcast, my goal is to keep pushing forward. I’ll continue to share insights about fitness, mindset, and self-development while experimenting with new formats and platforms. For those of you who have been along for the ride, thank you. Your support means the world.
